Nursery Room
Welcome to our Nursery Group. Our Centre is licensed under the Childcare Act 2003. It is a requirement that our Childcare Service must comply with this Act and Childcare Regulations including.
- the requirements about activities, experiences and programs
- the numbers of staff members and children
- staff qualifications
Notices stating current information about groups and staffing are displayed at the Centre.
This group is licensed for children aged between 6 weeks and 2 years. We have 2 staff (a Group Leader and Assistant) with a maximum group size of 8 children at any one time.
When you and your family begin at our Centre, you will be given a Parent Handbook. This booklet contains important information about the running of the Centre, Centre policies and philosophies, staffing information etc. Please notify the Director immediately if you have not received this information.
Once enrolment has been confirmed and a start date is organised, you are encouraged to attend the Centre for an orientation appointment. During the orientation, we will ask for all of the information pertaining to your child, which is important to the smooth running of their day at the Centre. Information such as your babies routines (eating / sleeping etc), likes and dislikes, will be recorded in a profile which will be set up by the Group Leader for your child. Please ensure that you pass on any information, which you think may be relevant to the care of your child.
During the orientation, we will endeavour to introduce you to all of the staff at the Centre, show you around and where things go etc. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have at this point.
The orientation process gives you a chance to spend a little bit of time in the room with your child so that you can observe the way things are done and give us any feedback etc.
Our nursery room is tailored to each individual babies routines. We will endeavour to follow through with the routines / requests as closely as possible in order to minimise any disruption to your babies day.
Each day, we record when your baby has sleepy, eaten, had a bottle, been nappy changed etc. We also write a little bit about what your baby has done during the day so you can see for yourselves what has happened and when. These sheets are available for you to take home with you.
Our Group Leader in the Nursery compiles a weekly program for the room based on observations they have taken of each of the children in the room. From these observations, developmental goals and objectives are set and from this, developmental experiences are planned and then evaluated. Our program is always on display in the room for you to comment on, give feedback, ask questions about etc.
Our program addresses a range of developmental areas such as – physical, social / emotional and cognitive. Activities include music and movement, art experiences, story telling / language experiences and gross and fine motor activities.
This is a brief outline of the Nursery room, however please don’t hesitate to see either your Group Leader or the Centre Director should you have further questions.
We look forward to working in a mutually respectful relationship with you and your family.
